About Our Temple
The Sri Subramaniam Swami Devasthanam Temple Situated in Pekan Lama, Sungai Petani and commenced construction in 1914. The temple features an impressive 'Raja Gopuram' (monumental entrance) and is adorned with two striking holy spear at its entrance. The temple is erected on the grounds formerly occupied by the Magistrate's Court, and its primary sanctum was once utilized by judges. Devotees attribute their sense of tranquility to the blessings of Lord Subramaniyar, who, in the form of 'Andi' (surrender), occasionally imparts guidance to worshippers. The statue of Lord Subramaniyar, initially brought from India and destined for London, serendipitously found its way to its present location. Consequently, the deity in this temple is affectionately known as London Muruga. Renowned saints, including Thiru Muruga Kirubaanantha Vaariyaar, Kavingyar Kannathaasan, Sri Madurai Aathinam, and Sri Pitchai Gurukkal, have visited this spiritual fortress, all experiencing the divine vibrations of Lord Subramaniyar.
