About Our Temple
Constructed in the 1930s by the plantation workers in this area, the temple initially stood on a farm owned by the Sime Darby group. However, as the farm was subdivided into small plots (3-4 4cre lots) and sold to insiders. The temple and its land ended up on a plot purchased by chance by an Indian individual. Despite subsequent changes in ownership and development, the landlords did not obstruct devotees from visiting the temple. Eventually, the National Electricity Board acquired all the land, including the temple site, for development. Later, the land was handed over to housing developers, leading to the establishment of the present town, Jasin Bestari. Before transferring the land to the developer, the National Electricity Board requested the temple management to relocate the temple to another site, offering compensation. In 2010, under the leadership of Datuk V Subramaniam, the temple management secured a one acre piece of land along Jasin Bemban Road with the assistance of the state government. The new temple was completed in 2013. Registered with the Malaysian Societies Registration Department as Persatuan Penganut in 1996, the temple now serves families who once lived on the farm and their descendants. They have settled in nearby residential areas and continue to use the temple for worship. Since 1990, the Mariamman festival has been celebrated every year for ten consecutive days. Kumbabhishekam in the new building occurred once in 2013. During the festival, descendants of former workers gather at the temple to worship, reconnect with friends, and reunite with relatives.
