About Our Temple
The Devi Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Batang Melaka stands as one of the oldest temples in the state of Melaka, dating back to its establishment in 1935. The temple's construction was made possible through the collaboration of the farm management and the dedicated efforts of Mr. Amarar Periyannan, a conservator employed in Batang Melaka. Initially, the temple was a small wooden structure, serving as a place of worship for farm workers. Following the sale of the farm, the Chinese management allocated a separate piece of land for the temple. Due to the aging condition of the original temple building, the temple management embarked on a restoration project. With contributions from well-wishers and financial support from devotees, a new temple was constructed, and a Kumbabhishekam ceremony was held in 2004. In 2017, an additional 0.5 acres of land was acquired for the temple from the Jasin District Land and Mines Department. This parcel of land, Lot 1310, also includes a cemetery, and both are under the administrative control of the temple. Presently, the temple is operational, and all religious ceremonies are conducted with diligence.
