About Our Temple
Established in the early 19th century by over 200 Indian farmers in collaboration with the farm management, this temple serves as a place of divine worship for both Tamils and Malayalis. Presently, only two Indian families reside in the vicinity, as retired workers have moved to a nearby housing project. Despite their relocation, these individuals continue to cherish the memories of farm life and actively participate in all temple events. Throughout its history, the temple has undergone various stages of development. Following the design of the current temple, the first Mahakumbabbhishekam was conducted in 1977. The temple houses deities such as Moolavar, Lord Vinayaka, Murugan, Muneeswarar, Nagamma, Madurayiran, and Navagragam. The Sri Maha Mariamman temple celebrates its annual festival on August 15, featuring various traditional sports competitions. Notably, the Sri Maha Mariamman Football Tournament, a bilateral tournament for boys and girls, holds a world record in Malaysian football, having been held continuously for 52 years. Additionally, a festival is organized every year on December 25, attracting attendees from the plantations, especially Malays.
