About Our Temple
Founded in 1904 by Hindu laborers residing in the Merlimau Estate, this modest temple has undergone structural modifications over the years. The current temple, now undergoing expansion, is situated near the original site. Notably, during this survey, the temple land within the estate remained under the ownership of Sime Darby and had not yet been formally transferred to the temple administration. Despite the farm workers having relocated to nearby housing projects, this roadside temple continues to draw visitors, particularly during festivals, from distant villages. Annually, during the Puratasi month, the Mariyamman festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm, including the fire walking (Theemithi) event. Having conducted Kumbabhishekam twice, the most recent being in 2005, the temple management has decided to schedule the next Kumbabhishekam only after relocating the temple to a new building at its designated location.
