About Our Temple
Constructed in 1915 by farm laborers on half an Acre of land, the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple at Serkam Estate in Jasin initially featured a trident and a wooden shed as the temple structure. In 1980, a stone building replaced the original structure. Recently, the temple administration has added a small hall designed for multipurpose use. The primary deity of worship in this temple is Goddess Sri Maha Mariamman, while other deities like Vinayakar, Murugan, Sankalikaruppan, Nagamma, and Muniandi also bestow blessings upon the devotees. The Thimithi festival, is a significant event that attracts a large number of devotees. Although the Tamils who formerly resided in this area have relocated to the suburbs of Jasin, the temple continues to draw more devotees, particularly during the festival. Their active participation in various religious events remains substantial. Since 1980, Mr. Muniandi Arumugam has served as the temple chairman, and ongoing negotiations with the farm management aim to secure additional land for the temple.
