About Our Temple
In the 1970s, laborers from the 'D' division of Bukit Asahan established the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple to honor Muniswaran and Mariamman as protective deities. In its early years, the temple observed special occasions, including dedicated Fridays to Sri Maha Mariamman, and celebrated festivals such as Pongal and Deepavali, with a primary focus on goddess worship. Due to restrictions on the temple premises' usage, the management faces challenges registering the temple in the Malaysian government's association records. Annually, in May, the temple hosts an elaborate celebration reminiscent of a festival in honor of Visakha Day. During this period, devotees, laborers, their children, and relatives come together at the temple. The festivities extend beyond the temple grounds, featuring activities like a procession and various cultural events. This celebration underscores the historical significance of the temple, serving as a communal gathering place for the community.
