About Our Temple
The Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, established in 1910 by Tamil laborers on Lebuh Campbell, was initially devoted to Muniswaran and Mariamman as protective deities. In its early stages, worship commenced in a small hut with the placement of a trident (Soolam) and the performance of rituals. In 1973, the temple underwent relocation to its present location, orchestrated by the temple committee and the dedicated efforts of devotees. Through collaborative endeavors, a modest temple was constructed, marking the commencement of festivals and celebrations. Despite the workers who originally built and maintained the temple relocating to urban areas, they remain actively involved, consistently participating in special worship services and festivals without fail. Presently, the temple is officially registered, ensuring that all poojas (rituals) and festivities are conducted with immense enthusiasm and devotion.
