About Our Temple
The Ladang Tebong, located in the Batang Malacca region, is now under the administration of the Genting group. Originating in the 1930s as part of a Tamil estate, the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple initially occupied a small cottage and later, in 1973, was relocated to an area near the railway track to serve the residential needs of estate workers. In 1988, Tan Sri Samy Velu secured government funds for the temple's renovation. Despite the migration of many estate workers to urban areas, they actively participate in the temple's celebrations. The temple's management was transferred to the Malacca State Government in 2013 and is currently supervised by the Jasmin Arulmigu Devi Sri Maha Mariamman Bhaktar Sangam, registered with the Malaysian Sangam in 2015. During the Tamil month of Aadi, thousands of devotees gather to observe the Mariamman festival in the temple. Even though former residents and their descendants have dispersed, they continue to engage in the temple's annual festival, maintaining a connection with both the temple and their heritage.
