About Our Temple

In 1969, Mr. K.V. Sami initiated the establishment of this temple on behalf of Hindus employed in public works in the Merlimau area. Built on MCL land under contract, the temple, situated alongside the road, has become a place of worship for many Hindus residing in the town of Merlimau. Subsequently, the National Electricity Board required the site of the temple due to its location along the path of high-voltage power lines, prompting the request to relocate the temple. As the temple is on MCL land, no compensation could be obtained from TNB. Despite this, the temple administration persistently endeavored to relocate the temple to a new location. Notably, the temple building does not have electricity, and its main night time events are powered by generators. One distinctive feature is the annual festival celebrated in this temple for 18 consecutive days on Vaikasi Visakha Day over the past 50 years. Kumbabhishekam at this temple has been conducted three times thus far, with the next Kumbabhishekam scheduled for the new building. In 1982, the temple's management registered as a Persatuan Penganut, but the registration was later canceled due to the failure to submit the proper report to the registrar. Despite attempts to rectify the situation, the registry office continues to reject the registration of this temple, a circumstance that might change if the temple management acquires new land and relocates the temple.
