About Our Temple

The Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is situated in Padang Lembu, Gurun Kedah, and was established in 1950 by the local villagers. The origin of the temple traces back to the discovery of a snake mound (puttu) by the residents, prompting them to offer prayers, resulting in the fulfillment of some of their wishes. This temple quickly gained significance within the community, becoming a focal point for the surrounding people. Its importance extends up to a radius of around 5km, as the powerful Goddess Mariamman is believed to swiftly grant the prayers of the villagers. In its early days, the temple started as small huts, but with changes in the committee over time, each successive group has transformed the temple into a brick structure. The community has actively cooperated in this development. The annual celebration of Aadi festival is a significant event that draws a large crowd of devotees, underlining the temple's continued importance and popularity.
