About Our Temple
The Devi Sri Maha Mariamman Temple was established in 1930 in an area known as Saha. In the 1930s, the public service workers residing in this region decided to build a temple for the worship of a guardian deity. Initially, they worshipped by placing a spear (Vel) at an anthill located in the area. After the 1960s, temple administrators developed the temple into the Devi Sri Maha Mariamman Temple. The fire walking (Theemidhi) festival held at this temple is very popular in the surrounding region. The temple has separate sanctums for various deities, including Durga Ammam, Nagammal, Murugan, Vinayagar, and Muneeswarar. People from both the Indian and Malaysian Chinese communities visit the temple to worship.
