About Our Temple
The Sri Subramaniar Temple was established in 1977 by workers at the Bekok estate. In the early days, the workers worshipped Lord Murugan by placing a spear (Vel) at a naturally formed anthill in the estate. Over time, they installed a small image of Lord Murugan and constructed a modest shrine. Later, through the efforts of temple administrators and devotees, the temple underwent extensive renovations and was rebuilt. In 2011, the grand Kumbabishekam (consecration ceremony) of the new Sri Subramaniar Temple was held successfully. During the Thaipusam festival, Lord Murugan is taken on a chariot procession through residential areas. Additionally, the temple administration nurtures a peacock, which symbolizes Lord Murugan’s vehicle.
