About Our Temple
The Rengam Shree Murugan Temple is about 100 years old. In 1925, Indian Tamils and Jaffna who worked as farm labourers gathered and worshipped with only Vel and Murugan idols. In the 1930s, the railway department and JKR workers built a small-scale Murugan temple and worshipped there. Later in 1961, the temple was officially registered as the Rengam Hindu Samaj Sri Murugan Temple and the construction work of the new temple was started. In 1968, the construction work of the temple was completed and the first Kumbabhishekam was performed with the efforts of the temple management and devotees. After 1999, there was an explosion and damage to the building in most parts of the temple. So the temple management decided to completely restore the temple since the building was old. YB Kumaran and YB Manikawasakam have provided financial assistance. Apart from that, the construction work of the temple is going on with the help of the temple head, the family of Mr. Devdas Kuppusamy and the devotees.
