About Our Temple
The Sri Maha Mariamman temple is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Ambigai, and its history traces back to the 1930s during the implementation of a British railway construction project in the state of Johor. Initially managed by the families of KTM employees, the temple elected its first chairman, Mr. Selliyah KTM Master, in 1940. Initially, the temple operated as a humble hut. In 1955, Mr. Sim oversaw the temple's renovation and the addition of deities such as Vinayagar, Murugan, and Muniswaran. In 1971, Mr. Sankaran took the initiative to enclose the temple with a fence and introduced a hall for devotees' use. The foundation stone for Maha Kumbhabisyegam was laid in 1983 by Johor state MIC chairman Dato' Pasamanikkam. In 2008, a significant relocation of the temple occurred to KM4 Jalan Niyor, and on March 20, 2018, the new temple's construction was completed. A Kumbabisyegam was held to mark the occasion. It's worth noting that this temple is also affiliated with Hindu Sangam Malaysia.
