About Our Temple
The Muneeswarar Temple located in the Segamat, Jalan Hassan area is believed to be around 150 years old. During that time, both the Tamil and Chinese communities lived together in large numbers in the region. As a result, the people of this area worshipped Lord Muneeswarar and Chinese deities such as Datuk as guardian Gods. Later, the temple was renovated and rebuilt with the help of the temple administrators and devotees. During the Chithirai month in April, a grand festival is held at the temple, attracting devotees from various parts of the country. Chinese devotees, in particular, participate in special prayers and festivities. In the evening of the festival, devotees offer flowers, fruits, and sweets to Sri Muneeswarar on a platter. After the offerings, banana leaf meals with rice and vegetables are served to the devotees. These meals are provided free of charge by the local community.
