About Our Temple

In the 1940s, Swami Jagannathar arrived in Malaya and settled in Baling, Kedah. At that time, Swami told the mother of Mr. Sundararaju that Tapah was a peaceful and spiritually suitable place for meditation and divine worship. Accepting his advice, Mr. Sundararaju's mother built a small hut near the Chinese cemetery for Swami. A few years later, Swami acquired 0.7 Acres of land and began conducting spiritual rituals and meditations there. It is believed that Swami possessed mystical abilities, such as shape-shifting (notably into a serpent form) and the ability to hear the inner voices of People. He offered divine blessings and spiritual guidance to the local community, dedicating his life to service. In 1958, Swami expressed his desire to enter *Jeeva Samadhi* (a form of spiritual liberation). Preparations and rituals for this event were undertaken, and the responsibility for overseeing the Jeeva Samadhi ceremony was entrusted to Swami Satyānanda of the Pure Life Society. On January 25, 1959, during the Thaipusam festival, Swami entered Jeeva Samadhi. Later, Mr. Lakshmanan Chettiar was appointed as the caretaker of the site. In 1993, the property was handed over to the Malaysian Hindu Sangam. Through the efforts of the Hindu Sangam, the site was transformed into a spiritual center in 2019 under the name *Sadguru Sri Jagannathar Swami Atma Nilayam*. Today, the site hosts special rituals and various spiritual activities that are carried out with great devotion.
