About Our Temple
Sri Devi Karumariamman Temple was established in the year 1920 under the leadership of Mr. Sambasivamoorthy. It was started by workers employed at the Woolston Estate, who felt the need for a temple where they could worship. Initially, they began worshipping by placing a single brick at a higher area of the estate — the current location of the temple. Later, a small temple structure made of wooden planks and metal sheets was constructed. Over time, with the efforts of the temple administration and devotees, the temple underwent full renovation and modernization. As a result, a grand consecration ceremony (Kumbabishekam) for the new temple was held in 1995. This temple houses separate sanctums for various deities including Karumariamman, Vinayagar (Ganesha), Murugan, Sivan (Shiva), Hanuman, Nagammal, and Madurai Veeran, where devotees continue to offer their prayers.
