About Our Temple
The Sri Maha Karu Mariamman Temple, located in the Sungai Petani, Bedong areas, was established in 1930 by Tamil workers employed in the plantations. In the early days, the plantation workers installed a small trident and worshipped Goddess Mariamman as their guardian deity in a small hut made of wooden planks. They believed that Goddess Mariamman protected them from wild animals, diseases, and other harmful forces. Later, through the efforts of the temple management, a new temple was constructed, and a consecration ceremony (Kumbabishekam) was performed. Currently, the temple is properly registered, and all rituals and prayers are conducted with grandeur.
