About Our Temple
The Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Ladang Merbok, Selangor, has its origins in 1792 when Indian estate laborers established a small hut with a zinc roof and planks at the Merbok Estate. This makeshift temple housed the idols of Goddess Karumariamman and Goddess Durga, and prayer services were conducted. Over the years, the temple faced a decline in attendance as many field laborers left the estate. Subsequently, the Merbok estate relocated the temple to its current site, now occupied by farm laborers. Under the leadership of Mrs. Jothimani, the current temple management, efforts are being made to construct a new temple with a cement structure. The initiative is supported by donations from the public, as the previous temple is in a dilapidated state. Construction of the new temple had commenced in 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project has been temporarily halted. Despite the challenges, the construction of the temple is still in progress at the moment.
