About Our Temple
The Persatuan Penganut Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, situated in Ladang Kempsey, Kuala Selangor, has its roots embedded in the history of Kempsey Farm, the earliest farm in the region. Constructed during the 1890s under British rule on the rubber and coffee plantations, the temple served as a place of worship for laborers facing health challenges. Devotees, placing a stone under a tree, built a small hut with wooden planks and a zinc roof to venerate Lord Muniswarar as a protective deity. The deity gained a reputation for answering prayers, attracting a growing number of followers. With the guidance of the new temple management, a stone structure was erected, featuring a carved representation of Lord Muniswarar. Additionally, the main sanctum now houses the idol of Goddess Amman. The temple annually celebrates the Chitrai Thiruvilla festival.
