About Our Temple
In the 1960s, efforts were made to build a Hindu temple for the worship of Tamil people living in the Kota Kinabalu area. For some reasons, this attempt was temporarily halted. Again, in 1977, under the leadership of Dato L. R. Jim S. Rajaratnam and the tireless efforts of the temple administrators, 2 acres of land for the temple was acquired from the government. Based on the recommendation of Kanchi Periyava Jagadguru Shankaracharya, the construction of the new temple began under the name Sri Pasupathi Nath Temple. With the donations from the temple administrators, devotees, and some benevolent individuals, the temple was completed. In 1990, the temple's Maha Kumbhabhishekam was celebrated grandly. The temple is properly registered, and all poojas and festivals are conducted excellently. Additionally, it serves as an important place of worship for the Tamil people living in this area.
