About Our Temple
The Kota Kinabalu Sri Subramaniar Temple was started by Tamils serving in the military in the 1970s. Initially, the Murugan temple was a small shrine at a different location, and after 1970, it was relocated to the Lok Kawi area in Kota Kinabalu. Under the leadership of Lieutenant Satchidananda, and with the help of devotees, the new Sri Subramaniar Temple was built. Subsequently, a multi-purpose hall was also constructed. This temple is the oldest and the only Murugan temple in Sabah, making it an important place of Murugan worship for the Tamil people living in this area. The temple is now properly registered, and all poojas are conducted excellently.
