About Our Temple
The Tennis Town Sri Maha Muthu Mariamman Temple is believed to have been constructed in 1876 at the Saim Darby plantation in Parit Buntar. The temple was built by the workers of the Saim Darby estate. Tamil workers employed in the estate worshipped Muthu Mariamman as their guardian deity. In the early days, with the permission of the plantation management, they performed rituals and prayers in a small wooden hut dedicated to Muthu Mariamman. As time passed, many of the workers moved to different jobs, leading to the relocation of the temple to a more residential area. With the help of devotees, the temple management built a new temple structure and conducted the Kumbabishekam (consecration ceremony). Today, the temple is officially registered, and all rituals are performed with great devotion and care.
