About Our Temple
In 1882, the Tamil community residing in the Manjung Sitiawann Farm area established a Mariamman temple and engaged in worship at the site. Subsequently, in 1914, construction efforts were initiated, driven by the dedication of Mr. Sundaram Thandal. After approximately seven years of diligent work, the temple restoration was completed, culminating in the successful conduct of the first Kumbabhishekam ceremony in 1921. During that period, the temple was situated on land owned by the farm, and the farm administration generously allocated the land to the temple. In later years, following the sale of the farm, the cooperative acquired the land and assumed management of the temple. However, the land was eventually sold to Chinese owners. Through extensive efforts led by Datuk Encik S. Rajasekaran, the head overseeing the temple administration, negotiations spanning several years resulted in the repurchase of the temple land. Subsequently, with the collaborative efforts and financial support from the temple management and devotees, the temple underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2006, including the construction of the Raja Gopuram, and a Kumbabhishekam ceremony was conducted. Presently, the temple holds official registration, ensuring the proper and regular performance of all religious ceremonies and pujas.
