About Our Temple
The Arut Peroli Arutperumjothi Temple was established by Mr. Kovallavu Sockalingam in 1971 and is also known as the Maha Sivalayam. Initially, Lord Shiva was the main deity of the temple. However, the temple faced difficulties in performing rituals due to the lack of a water source nearby. In response, Hindu Baba, along with his brother Mr. Selvanathan and a friend, decided to dig a well on the temple grounds. Despite digging 18 feet deep, the ground remained completely dry. The next day, when they went back to check the well, it was still dry. Hindu Baba, aware that Lord Shiva tests his devotees through challenges, prayed and worshipped fervently. Within 15 minutes of prayer, water began to flow from the well. Witnessing this miracle, the devotees were amazed at the power of Lord Shiva. This event became one of the many miracles that took place at the temple. The temple structure was later renovated, and in 1992, the second Kumbabishekam (consecration ceremony) was conducted. The temple building was expanded to two floors. The temple is renowned for its Maha Shivaratri worship services, which attract devotees from various parts of the country, including Singapore.
