About Our Temple
In the 1950s, Mr. Varathappan, who lived in the Mersing area, established the Deva Muniyandi Temple. He worshipped Muniyandi as a guardian deity near his residential area. Later, with the help of his family and a few devotees, Mr. Varathappan built a small temple, where they continued their worship. Even today, it is a tradition at the temple to offer a goat sacrifice ritual (Kida Vetti) and to fulfill their vows (Nerthikadan). Special prayers are conducted on Fridays, as well as on the Amavasai (New Moon) and Pournami (Full Moon) days.

It is believed that Dewa Muniandy will appear at night, usually on Friday night. There is a smell of cigars (believed to be from Dewa Muniandy). Many devotees come to this temple because he is also a Kaaval Deivam (guardian deity).
