About Our Temple
In 1934, Amarar Raju and his associates founded this temple, originally constructed with a zinc roof, boards, and cement. In 1946, Mr. Raju, along with his companions, established an executive management committee for the temple. By 1951, the temple administration added a staircase and a stage along the riverbank, and another facility was constructed in 1960. Initially, the Panguni Uthiram festival, featuring a chariot procession, took place at this temple. The then Chief Minister of Malacca, His Excellency Datuk Seri Haji Talib bin Karim, assisted by providing land for the temple. In 1987, a dedicated team led by former Melaka State Assemblyman, Yang Berhormat Datuk Arunachalam, worked on completing a new temple building, including a new front gate. Since 1992, the primary festival at this temple has been Vinayagar Chaturthi, celebrated continuously for ten days each year. An observatory was added in 2013, and Kumbabhishekam ceremonies have been conducted four times in the temple's history. The temple management officially registered the temple in 1980. |
