About Our Temple
The Sri Raja Rajeshwari Amman Temple was established in 1969, initially worshiping the Rajeshwari idol under a mango tree. Mr. Sundaram, with dedicated efforts, organized the first Kumbabhishekam for the temple. In 1979, he purchased the temple site as private land situated between two rivers. In 1991, statues of Raja Rajeshwari, Vinayagar, and Murugan were imported from Tamil Nadu, followed by the second Kumbabhishekam in the same year. A significant flood in 1992 disrupted temple activities for four consecutive years. In a dream, Goddess Raja Rajeshwari instructed Mr. Sundaram to relocate her statue to a safer place. Acting swiftly, Mr. Sundaram, along with friends, moved the statue before the old location was washed away within minutes. The government granted permission to construct the temple in 2007. Mr. Sundaram, temporarily relocating the statue, initiated the construction of a new temple by filling the hollow area with 6,000 truckloads of earth, raising it to a height of 12 feet. Distinct gopurams were erected for Raja Rajeshwari, Murugan, Goddess Durga, Shiva, Anjaneyar, and Nagammal. Separate towers were also constructed for these deities. In 2012, a 7-foot-tall Pillaiyar statue was paraded using cows and horses, followed by Abhishekam, Omam, and Yatra Puja. The Sri Karpaka Vinayagar temple features 42 Yazhi-type pillars. Mr. Sundaram generously contributed his own land to the temple and resides there, earning praise from the community as Seva Tilak. The Kumbabhishekam for the Sri Karpaka Vinayagar Temple is scheduled for July 2023.
