About Our Temple

The Sree Bagawathy Amman Temple is situated in Tapah, Perak. Established in 1977 by the Malayali community, the temple's land is under the ownership of the Malayan Railway Company (KTMB). The Malayali community, comprising individuals employed at the station, was responsible for the construction of this temple, which they named Malayalam Bagavathi. Instead of a traditional statue, a stone is venerated as a representation of Goddess Amman. In 1924, members of the temple committee transported the stone to Kerala, India, to sculpt it into the form of the Goddess statue. Subsequently, they traveled to Mahabalipuram, India, to complete the carving of the Goddess Amman statue. To this day, devotees continue to gather at this temple for its annual festival.
