About Our Temple
The Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Kambar Nagar, initially established as a small hut in 1963 by Indian miners from the Toronto Mines area, had humble beginnings. In its early days, the temple operated in a small wooden shed. By 1998, it was converted into a modest temple structure. Later, the local community united under the leadership of Mr. K. Vessulingam to construct a new temple. As a result, a new temple was built in 2002, and a kumbabhishekam (consecration ceremony) was performed. This Maha Mariamman Temple has since become a significant place of worship for the local community. It serves as the sole place of worship for the Tamil People and miners residing in the area. Currently, the temple administration manages and maintains it meticulously. All daily rituals and festivals are conducted with great devotion, and the temple continues to hold a central place in the spiritual lives of the Tamil community in the region.
