About Our Temple
About 100 years ago, during the British colonial period, the people living in the Broom estate built a small Mahamariamman temple in a humble hut. They worshipped Goddess Mariamman as a guardian deity to protect themselves from natural disasters, wild animals, and diseases. In the early days, they used to offer goat sacrifices. Later, in 1950, the estate was sold to another company. Therefore, the temple was relocated to its current location. The government allocated a piece of land for the temple and also provided a small financial contribution. With the help of the temple management and devotees, a new temple was constructed and consecrated (Kumbabishegam). In 2007, the temple was fully renovated and rebuilt with a majestic Rajagopuram. Today, the temple is properly registered, and all poojas and festivals are conducted grandly. It stands as a major place of worship for the people living in the area.
