About Our Temple
The Banting Sri Maha Mariamman Temple was established in 1916 by the Tamil community residing in the Banting farm area. With the efforts of Mr. Ponnaiya and Mr. Eenamuthu Kangani, a small shrine was initially set up to worship Goddess Ambal. Subsequently, in 1957, with the dedicated endeavors of the temple administrators, a small sanctum was constructed, featuring idols of Ambal, Vinayagar, and Murugan. The temple underwent gradual expansion, and statues from India, particularly idols from black stones were added. In 1987, a new Sri Maha Mariamman Temple was constructed, and a Khumbabishegam ceremony took place. The diligent efforts of the temple administration led to various renovations and improvements over the years. Due to their hard work, the temple gained autonomy from the Estate Management in 2001. Presently, the temple is well-maintained, and all rituals are conducted with great reverence.
