About Our Temple
In the 1940s, the Tamil community engaged in plantation work at Chertong Farm, where Mr. Malayandi, a foreman, demonstrated his devotion by erecting a spear (Vel). A makeshift temple, constructed with sa small hut around the Vel, became a place of worship for the local residents. Following 1950, Mr. Sivalingam and Mr. Mailavaganam took on the responsibility of maintaining and enhancing the temple, making it more significant. In 1961, with the collaboration of the temple management and devotees, a modest temple was constructed, and the inaugural Kumbabhishekam ceremony took place. During this era, temples dedicated to Amman, Krishna Rama, and Vinayagar were scattered in various locations. The government advised consolidating them into a single worship space. Guided by the then temple administrator, Dr. Mailvaganam, the Sri Subramaniyar Temple was established, featuring idols of Amman, Krishna (Rama), Vinayagar, and Navagraha. The year 1966 witnessed a well-executed Kumbabhishekam, marking a significant milestone. Subsequently, the temple underwent proper registration, ensuring the smooth conduct of all religious ceremonies.
