About Our Temple

The Sri Nagakanni Amman Temple, situated in the Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad area, was established 65 years ago. Mrs. Pappu Ammal, facing health challenges, initiated the construction of the temple near her residence. In response to her request, Mr. Kandasamy Palaniyappan, a resident in the same vicinity, took over the temple's management. Following Mrs. Pappu Ammal's passing in 2014, Mr. Kandasamy, along with young residents, assumed collective responsibility for the temple and underwent a renovation. Later on, the temple fell under the jurisdiction of the Selangor Urban Redevelopment Project, prompting its relocation. Facing challenges in securing private land, the temple administrators successfully obtained a small plot next to the Chinese Thar To Temple. Currently, the Sri Nagakanni Amman Temple and the Chinese Thar To Temple coexist harmoniously on this shared space. They conduct worship ceremonies and festivals together, contributing to unity between the Tamil and Chinese communities in the area.
