About Our Temple
Sri Subramaniya Swami Temple, situated in Jalan Reko, Kajang, Selangor, was founded by the Hindu community in Kajang. In 1905, a modest shrine dedicated to Lord Subramaniya already existed at Jalan Reko. Taking the lead, a group of Hindu pioneers, including S. Thambipillay, V. Thamboo, R. Karuppiah Pillay, M. Saminathan, and N. Letchumanan Chettiar, proactively acquired the land from two Chinese gentlemen. This land, Lot 624 Mukim of Kajang, spanning about 3 acres, became the site for constructing the temple following Hindu Agamic practices. In 1973, trustees were appointed to oversee the temple's management, namely Sri K. Kumarasamy, Sri Poomi Udayar, and SPRM Subramaniam Chettiar. Over the years, the temple underwent several Khumbabishegam ceremonies, with records available for events held in 1976, 1985, 1997, and 2009. Notably, during the Maha Khumbabishegam, various other deities were enshrined, including Arumugaswami, Valli-Deivanai, Sri Kasi Visvanathar-Kasi Visalathi, Sri Shanthana Gopalan, Sri Nadaraja Swami, Sri Durga, Sri Thatchanamurthy, Sri Lingothavar, Sri Bhaivarar, and Sri Sandeswara.
