About Our Temple

In 1927, the JKR Hindus in the Kajang region constructed Kaliamman and Muneeswaran temples to honor them as protective deities. However, during the process of urbanization as outlined in the Urban Development Plan, the temple underwent reconstruction and was re-established as the Uchi Pillaiyar Temple in 2001. This transformation was made possible through collaboration with the government and the assistance of Mr. Krishnan, the then Chairman of the temple administration. In 2001, the temple management, in conjunction with public consensus, made the decision to re-purpose the temple into a Vinayagar Murthy temple and procured a Vinayagar statue for this purpose. Mr. Rajendran, an import business owner at the port, discovered a long-stored box in a warehouse in Port Klang. Upon opening it, he found a Ganesha idol and opted to take it home. However, faced with the impracticality of conducting proper pooja (worship) for the Vinayagar idol at home, he was at a loss for what to do. With the assistance of a friend, he chose to donate the idol to a temple. Presently, this temple is duly registered and functioning seamlessly, with Ganesha presiding as Uchi Pillaiyar atop a mountain amidst breathtaking surroundings.
