About Our Temple

Sri Veera Sangili Muniswarar Temple is located in Bandar Rinching, Section 2. In the 1950s, about 15–20 Tamil families lived behind the area where the temple now stands. These families worked in a rubber plantation, and for their protection, they tied a yellow cloth around a rubber tree and worshipped Karuppasamy as a guardian deity. To protect themselves from wild animals and diseases, and also to safeguard their tools at their workplace, they planted a trident (sulam), lit oil lamps, and performed rituals. After the 1980s, over time, the Tamil families who lived in this area migrated to other places. Then at the time of 1986s Mr. Subramaniam and his wife were engaged in tree-cutting work in this area. During that time, through his wife, a divine revelation (arul vakku) was received that Muniswaran had manifested and resided in that place. Following this, Mr. Subramaniam continued to light lamps and worship Muniswaran at this site. Subsequently, the local youth came together and took responsibility for maintaining the temple. At that time, one of the youths had a vision of Karuppar, and hence the temple was named Arulmigu Veera Sangili Muniswarar Temple. At present, shrines for Karuppar, Nagamma, Muniswarar, Madurai Veeran, Kali, Shiva, and Hanuman have been established within the temple. In the early days, animal sacrifices were practiced. However, after 2001, the temple was completely transformed into a vegetarian (non-sacrificial) mode of worship. During the temple festival, after the completion of the celebrations, a symbolic offering is made only on the seventh day as a continuation of tradition. This reflects the evolving religious understanding among the younger generation and demonstrates a harmonious way of living that respects the sentiments of people from other communities in a multicultural society.
