About Our Temple
In 1920, Mr. Velayutham Mandor secured permission from the British estate owner to construct a small temple. Using a handful of soil from India, he ceremoniously sprinkled it at the temple construction site and erected the temple. The temple has since become a central hub for religious and social events, serving the residents of the park and the surrounding community. It stands as the oldest and most renowned temple in the Rembia region. After the country gained independence, the park was purchased by a Chinese merchant who, showing concern for public welfare, generously donated a parcel of land measuring 30' x 60' to the temple. On March 26, 1980, an additional three-quarters of an acre of land was acquired. In 1986 the temple underwent amajor change in building and a new temple was built and the Kumbabhisegam ceremony for the temple occurred in December 1988. The temple underwent renovation in 2007, with the second Kumbabhisegam held on January 20, 2008. Encompassing an area of 30,492 square feet, the temple houses statues of Moolavarodu Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, and Bhairava. The festival of Adi Pooram is celebrated grandly in this temple.
