About Our Temple
Situated on farmland belonging to Raman Chettiar, the construction of this temple in the 1930s was notably influenced by Mr. Muniandi and Mr. Alagappa, both foremen and former farm laborers on the property. The temple has witnessed various transformations since its inception. During the post-independence era, approximately 300 workers were employed on this farm. Devotees hold strong beliefs in the formidable power of Sri Nagamma Devi within this temple. As time passed, the land was sold to Chinese owners, and the farm's name changed to Lam Ju Garden. Subsequently, the government took control of the farm as part of a plan to convert the area into the Krubong Industrial Area, compelling workers to relocate to nearby residential zones. Presently, the temple site falls within the road maintenance jurisdiction of the Public Works Department. Despite ongoing efforts to secure alternative land for the temple, these endeavors have yet to yield success. Nevertheless, the temple administration is committed to finding a resolution to this issue and moving forward. An annual Kaliamman festival is celebrated in July at this temple, attracting heirs and relatives of past workers from various locations who gather during this festival.
