About Our Temple
The Sri Kaliamman Temple was established in the 1890s by the Tamil community. During the British colonial era, road construction projects were underway, and the Public Works Department workers, along with the local Tamil community, came together to build this temple. In the early days, the deity's idol was brought from India and placed in a small hut, accompanied by a trident, to worship the goddess as a guardian deity. Over time, with the support of the Public Works Department and devotees, a modest temple structure was constructed. Later, the temple management committee undertook a complete renovation, modernizing the temple. Today, it is officially registered and functions efficiently, with all rituals and festivals conducted with grandeur. The temple serves as a significant place of worship for the local community and is also a notable tourist attraction in the area.
