About Our Temple
The Devi Sri Maha Mariamman Temple was established in 1893 within the Pekan, Dengkil plantation as a humble shrine situated beneath a tree. Mr. Govindasamy, a plantation worker, initiated worship at this location, where a significant event occurred when a snake appeared on the tree. The Tamil community residing in the vicinity continued to conduct rituals and worship at this spot. In 1948, a piece of land was allocated to a local resident for the construction of the temple. Subsequently, the temple premises were developed and also utilized for commercial purposes. Presently, the temple is jointly managed by the Tamil and Chinese communities, with its administration overseeing registration, rituals, and worship activities in a structured manner.
