About Our Temple
In the 1960s, Tamil residents in the plantation area of Teluk Intan, Perak, established the Devi Sri Maha Mariamman temple with the consent of the plantation administration. Initially, the temple was housed in a modest shed made of wooden planks and a zinc roof, where devotees prayed to Goddess Mariamman, represented by her portrait inside the hut. After some years, both the temple management and devoted followers collaborated to construct a more substantial stone structure, and a Kumbabishegam ceremony was conducted. As the local community gradually relocated to other areas, the devotees remained committed to attending special pujas and festivals at this temple. They have formally requested a separate plot of land for the temple from the estate administration. Notably, the temple is officially registered, ensuring the regular performance of all rituals and poojas.
