About Our Temple

The Dewi Sri Sangoo Natha Kaliamman Temple, located in Padang Tembok, Ipoh, Perak, was constructed by laborers employed at the Cheroh quarry to ensure their safety during work. At that time, there was only one Indian village in the area, and the villagers would gather at this temple for their prayers, as there were no other temples nearby. In its early days, the temple was a small shelter situated under a tree, constructed from wooden planks with a zinc roof. Inside the temple, the villagers placed a framed picture of Goddess Kaliamman, whom they devoutly worshipped. It was their belief that Goddess Kaliamman provided protection against dark magical forces, which is why devotees continue to visit this temple to seek her blessings and well-being.
