About Our Temple
In the 1900s, Tamil People, as well as Nepalese Gurkhas, lived in the plantations around the Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi area. In 1909, Mr. Pal Singh Thapa established a Hindu temple in the plantation area to serve the spiritual needs of the People. The Gurkhas who came from the Butan area in Nepal, later named it the Butan Estate. After the passing of Mr. Pal Singh, his daughter took over and renovated the temple, renaming it as the Sri Durga Kaliyamman Temple. In the early 2000s, Mr. Kannalan Kuppuchamy and his brothers, along with the temple management, undertook the formal registration of the temple and initiated renovation works. Currently, the temple is well-maintained, and all rituals and festivals are celebrated with great devotion.
