About Our Temple
Constructed in 1890, the Horse Temple, as it is commonly known among locals, gained its name due to the presence of two horse statues at its entrance. Initially, in the 1890s, the temple was built using planks and tins on the Jelutong Estate near Cheng village, operating under British administration. Despite its age, the first Kumbabhishekam for this temple occurred in 1957, coinciding with the appointment of Mr. Maruthai as the temple head. Due to changes over time and development initiatives, the temple had to be relocated in 2000 to a new site near the bridge along Jalan Kurubong Sungai Kutong. With the collaboration of Lok Sabha Member Datuk Raghavan and Chief Minister Datuk Mohd Ali Rustam, the temple management secured a 20,000 square feet land at Lot 1213 Jalan Ujong Padang, 6 3/4 miles. A new structure was erected, and the temple was consecrated on September 16, 2007. Presently, the temple serves Hindus residing in nearby residential areas.

The manager of the Jelutong farm, Mr. Richard, displayed disrespectful behavior by riding his horse in front of the temple in an insulting manner. As a consequence, Mr. Richard suffered a fall from his horse, resulting in injuries and a bout of measles. The farm clerks, Mr. Palanisamy and Mr. Nambiyar, advised Mr. Richard to seek forgiveness from Dewa Sri Karumariamman. Upon seeking forgiveness, Mr. Richard experienced a complete recovery from his ailments. In gratitude for his healing, Mr. Richard installed two horse statues at the temple's entrance. Consequently, the temple became known as the Horse Temple from that day onward.
