About Our Temple
The Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is among the temples situated in Mentakab, Pahang, positioned approximately 1 kilometer from Mentakab town along the roadside. In 1953, the worship of Goddess Mariamman commenced at this temple, and the deity was brought from the stone quarry of the Public Works Department. Mr. Arumugam took on the role of priest, initiating efforts to gather funds door-to-door for the temple's sustenance. The temple's location was shifted due to a government requirement for road widening. Subsequently, in 1982, renovation work began on the new temple at the current site. The inaugural Kumbabisegam took place in 1984. The temple grounds were officially designated for a temple and registered under the Pahang State Government. In 1984, Vikrahas, or idols, of deities and Parivana Murthi, including Murugan, Ganesha, Navagraham, and Lord Shiva, were imported from Tamil Nadu. The second Kumbabisegam was conducted in the year 2000.
