About Our Temple
In the 18th century, the People of Chetty Melaka built a temple in 1865 to display Draupada Ambigai as a Swayambu Lingam. Later, Thandayuthapani Vikrakam was created for the worship of Lord Muruga. In the 1930s, there was a change in administration from Chetty Melaka to Tamil Jaffna. In 1937 the temple was expanded and Kudamuzku was conducted. Then in 1970, the Tamils took over full administrative responsibility. The temple was officially registered in 1973 and now it is a flourishing Saivism and Vaishnavism temple with 4 Raja Gopurams, Maha Mandapam, 63 Nayanmar, 12 Alvar and 108 Shiva Thandava statues in 29,000 square feet.
